James H. Workman papers, 1910-1938.

Handwritten original and typewritten transcription of a 1922 letter to D.F. Boyd from his cousin Captain James H. Workman of the United States Army, brother of Major John David Workman. Also included is a copy of an address by Judge J.R. Thornton at the presentation of a picture of Major John David Workman, on behalf of Captain Workman, to Louisiana State University, describing the circumstances that resulted in the two brothers fighting on opposing sides in the Civil War. A newspaper clipping, dated 1938, tells the story and gives family genealogy and background.
